The National Laboratory of Biotechnology at the HUN-REN Szeged Biological Research Centre, in collaboration with the National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK), the National Laboratory of Health Security and several health institutions in five Eastern European countries, including Hungary, have produced a unique map of the prevalence and patterns of spread of Acinetobacter baumannii, one of the most dangerous hospital pathogens, in Eastern Europe and worldwide.
The results of this research could open a new chapter in the fight against antibiotic-resistant hospital-acquired infections.
